Earlier, Waqar Younis also tendered a public apology over cricket team’s poor performance at World T20 2016, while urging the Pakistan Cricket Board to take extraordinary steps to improve the falling standard of country’s cricket.
“Not a single person is responsible for the humiliating defeat at World T20 2016 but the whole cricketing infrastructure needs to revisited, a cosmetic surgery will not be helpful,” he went on to say in a press conference on Tuesday.
To a question, he said there are news coming out that PCB is planning to remove several people but I say this will not be fruitful, we need to do lot more as well.
On the occasion, he strongly dismissed the reports of grouping in the cricket team, saying it is misleading to say that players’ performance is politically motivated.
Waqar Younis said that he has prepared an in-depth report on team’s performance at World T20 which soon be handed over to PCB chairman. This is the time to reveal everything to improve the situation, he said.
When asked if he was ready to quit his position for improvement in cricket, he said if his resignation was helpful to Pakistan’s cricket, the PCB should sack him in a day.
