UAE:Arab women are rejecting the polygamous system, in most parts of Arab men have more than one wife which is permissible in Islam but under very strict and tight conditions. Some women are fine with the idea of their husband remarrying while staying with them but now the chained is being broken as women are now saying no to polygamy.
Women in Arab are now filing divorce from their husbands who have married again. Confessions of women reveal how their husbands didn’t follow the shariah but the followed this one part which permisses them to get married more than once.
UAE based Sahar is also one of these females to step back from such marriage. In an interview she explained how her wedding could only last for 5 years, having 2 children and living a happy life was everything for her but one day her husband expressed his wish to get married to this other woman and when she asked Why? She got the most ridiculous answer, her husband told her how he has money and can spend same amount of time with both of them without any problem. After listening to his response she got angry as it wasn’t about money but it was about loyalty and love.
Sahar divorces her husband weeks after he expressed his wish to marry another woman and she also got the custody of her both children. She further told how Islam permits the husband to marry but only if he can treat them all equal which is not possible as the religious laws are strict so what her husband did was wrong, he wouldn’t follow other shariah bits but he followed this one. She told how she doesn’t believe in polygamy.
Polygamy is a very tricky part for most of the people as the understanding of it is very less in people even the right education. Islam has very strict laws and without the wife’s permission the husband can not marry again.
