RAWALPINDI – Christian community in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have started decorating and illuminating their homes and churches to celebrate Christmas on December 25.
Christmas is celebrated on the day Jesus Christ was born. This year too, it will be marked with lights, music, songs, color and a festive mood. It will bring glowing happiness on the faces as people will come together, feast, pray, wish each other well and enjoy the moments that will be sacred and blessed.
“We decorate Christmas trees with ornaments and visit family and friends to exchange gifts and greeting cards,” said a group of young girls while talking to APP.
All the young and old are visiting bazaars and markets to shop for themselves and their loved ones. The young are interested in buying Christmas cards and gifts to show their love.
The main ritual of Christmas celebrations is the Christmas tree decoration to welcome the arrival of Santa Claus, also known as Father Christmas.
The tree is usually decked with different ornaments including baubles, small bells painted in gold or silver, stars of different shapes and sizes, pine cones, apples, candies, tinsel and balloons made from glass, metal, wood and ceramic.
