PM announces Rs 1 billion for flood-hit Sindh

GHOTKI (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday announced a relief package of one billion rupees for flood hit areas of Sindh while addressing flood-affected people in Ghotki.

The Prime Minister expressed deep grief over the loss of precious lives and property. He said the government will leave no stone unturned in mitigating problems of the flood-hit people.

Nawaz Sharif lauded Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah for carrying out relief activities in the flood-hit areas.

He urged federal and the provincial governments to allocate maximum funds to avoid flood devastation.

The prime minister also distributed relief goods among the flood hit people.

Earlier, Prime Minister had an aerial view of the flood affected areas of Sukkur.

The Prime Ministers arrived at Qadirpur Band Ghotki where Secretary Irrigation Sindh and the Director General of Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) briefed the prime minister about rescue and relief operation.

The prime minister was briefed that 60,000 people have so far been shifted to safer places. Ration and medicines are being provided to the flood-affected people living in relief camps. The administration has so far distributed over 6,000 ration packs.

The prime minister was briefed that standing crops on over 95,000 acres have been destroyed in district Ghotki.
