BEIJING (APP) – President Mamnoon Hussain along with other world leaders attended the China’s grand military parade in Beijing today marking the 70th anniversary of the end of World War-II.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and First Lady Madam Peng Liyuan received President Mamnoon and Begum Mehmooda Mamnoon on arrival at the historic Tiananmen Square.
Pakistan is among the seventeen foreign countries that contributed their troops for the parade.
Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Rashad Mehmood also witnessed the parade.
President Xi in his address said China loves peace and despite being the largest army, it would not seek hegemony. He said China will reduce its troops by three hundred thousand.
At the end of parade, President Xi Jinping and his spouse hosted a reception in honour of the heads of states and representatives of government at the Great Hall of People.
President Mamnoon and Begum Mehmooda Mamnoon attended the reception.
Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain and Vice Executive Prime Minister of China, Zhang Gaoli held a meeting in Beijing and discussed bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.
On the occasion, the President said China’s commitment for completion of projects under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is appreciable.
He said CPEC has importance for the whole region.
The Chinese Vice Executive Prime Minister said his country will work together with Pakistan for regional peace and deal with the challenges Pakistan is facing.
He lauded the efforts of President Mamnoon Hussain for further strengthening bilateral relations.
He said Pakistan and China are time tested friends.
