ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – The Election Commission of Pakistan has postponed the union council elections in 81 UCs of 8 districts of Sindh.
Secretary Election Commission Babar Yaqoob announced this while addressing a press conference in federal capital.
The districts where elections in certain union councils are likely to be postponed include Hyderabad, Badin, Tharparkar, Tando Allahyar, Mirpur Khas, Benazirabad, Nosheraferoz and Jamshoro.
Earlier the Supreme Court of Pakistan had issued its verdict on the Election Commission of Pakistan’s petition regarding postponing elections. The apex ruled that the Election Commission is an independent institution and should decide the matter on its own.
