Bugti murder case: Court won t exempt Musharraf

QUETTA (Web Desk) – An anti-terrorism court in Quetta on Tuesday refused former military ruler Pervez Musharraf’s request for grant of indefinite exemption in the Nawab Akbar Bugti murder case.

The judge had, during the last hearing, ordered Musharraf to appear before the court, but he could not because of poor health.

A medical board had been constituted to determine the former president’s health condition but Musharraf’s lawyer complained the government had not provided security for his appearance before the medical team.

The court issues orders for Musharraf’s security and after granting a one-day exemption, fixed the hearing for April 8.

Musharraf has been formally indicted for the murder, even though he has denied the charges, insisting the case was politically motivated.

The chief of Bugti tribe was killed in a raid in 2006.
