Kasur child abuse case: ATC sentences two convicts to life imprisonment

KASUR (Staff report) – An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday sentenced two convicts to life imprisonment in the Kasur child abuse case.

ATC special court’s judge Chaudhry Mohammad Ilyas heard the case and announced verdict against Haseem Amir and Faizan Mehmood. Both the convicts were awarded life imprisonment and a fine of Rs0.3 million each.

The case against these convicts was registered at Ganda Singhwala police station in Kasur District.

Residents at the time alleged a prominent family in the village of Husain Khan Wala used guns, knives and axes to force children – some as young as five – to perform sex acts on video, which they sold or used to extort money from victims’ families.

Lawyer Adnan Liaqat said 17 people, including 14 members of the same family, had been charged with sodomy, extortion and blackmail in relation to the abuse of children.
