CAIRO – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to discuss the security situation and emerging security challenges, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Tuesday.
According to the Director General ISPR Lt-Gen Asim Bajwa, the Egyptian president acknowledged Pakistan Army’s success in fighting terrorism and the country’s efforts for regional stability.

During the meeting, the COAS stressed the need for Muslim Ummah to unify to curb terrorism.
Later, General Raheel also met the Grand Imam of al-Azhar University, one of the oldest places of higher learning in the world, Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb. The imam applauded Pakistan’s effort for eradication of terrorism.
The army chief emphasized the need to guide the Muslim youth towards enlightenment, technological advancement, moderation and harmony.
