Islamabad to get first recycling plant to respectfully dispose of old pages of Quran

ISLAMABAD – The Ministry of Religious Affairs on Tuesday decided to establish a recycling plant to dispose of old pages of the Holy Quran in a respectful manner. These pages are otherwise discarded in an unpleasant way.

The meeting under the chair of Minister for Religious Affairs, Muhammad Yousaf, was also attended by representatives from the Pakistan Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR).

Participants agreed to establish a recycling plant citing the various complaints submitted to ministry about disrespect to holy Quran.

Ministry officials said that the first ever recycling plant would be established on the outskirts of the federal capital. The official said that the ministry had identified a site for the plant near Haji camp.

A ministry official said that a PC-I for the project was being prepared with the help of PCSIR and would be finalized soon. Following the erection of the plant, special boxes would be installed urging citizens to drop off the holy pages there.
