ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Third special flight of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has airlifted as many as 134 Pakistanis trapped in Yemen to Islamabad with on Sunday.
The plane landed in Sanaa after it was granted a permission to enter into the no-fly zone of the disturbed Yemen.
According to details, the plane kept flying in the air for two hours in the danger zone prior to landing.
Airlifting of stranded Pakistanis in Yemen has been started on the special directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. He himself is monitoring the evacuation process.
Meanwhile, Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam in a statement said all possible means are being utilised for early and safe evacuation of all stranded Pakistanis in Yemen.
She said a Pakistan Navy vessel is also due at Al-Hudeida today to evacuate 34 Pakistanis.
She stated that Pakistani embassy in Muscat will make arrangements for the return of those 12 compatriots.
She confirmed that on the arrival of those 12 Pakistanis the number of the evacuees will be 850.
On the other hand, The Pakistan Navy Ship has set off for Pakistan with 148 rescued Pakistani and 35 foreign nationals. The rescued nationals which include eleven Indian nationals will arrive in Karachi on Tuesday. The Indian government has thanked Islamabad for its humanitarian gesture.
