LAHORE – The Punjab government has shut down all the bus stands in the provincial capital till November 2, local transporters who are operating their buses from Lahore to Islamabad claimed on Monday.
The closure of bus stands comes as the provincial government has imposed section 144 in Lahore in the wake of Pakistan Tehreek Insaf’s (PTI) call for Islamabad lockdown.
All the bus terminals have been closed and there will be no arrival and departure since Monday’s morning, a local newspaper reported citing its sources.
The authorities have also announced Rs 20,000 rupees fine besides sealing of bus terminal if any of the transport companies will run their buses on Islamabad route, according to Urdu daily Jang.
Passengers have also been gripped by panic following the closure of bus stands across the city, the newspaper added.
However, Daily Pakistan could not independently verify the news.
