LHC stays execution of death row convict

LAHORE – The Lahore High Court has stayed the execution of a death row convict who was awarded death penalty by the military court.

A full bench of LHC heard the case of convict Abdul Qayyum who had carried out an attack at ISI Headquarters in Multan.

The bench heard the arguments presented by the parties and issued orders restraining implementation of the execution.

Former Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif had signed the death warrants of the convict. Qayyum is currently in Sahiwal jail.
