LONDON (Web Desk) – Sexual frustration and oppressive parents force young British Muslims to join the Islamic State (ISIS), reveals a British documentary.
The documentary, “Jihad: A British Story”, is work of two-year investigation conducted by an Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, Deeya Khan.
In this documentary, Khan investigates the origin of growing Muslim extremism in Europe and explores why some UK Muslims choose to embrace extremism and step into the holy war in Syria and Iraq.
In an interview with Daily Beast, Khan said young Muslims feel frustrated and isolated, and suffer from identity crisis, while the Islamic State gives them a chance to be who they are.
She said the immigrant parents play a major role in alienating their children from the society, as they are uncomfortable with open western sexuality. That, in return, sometimes led the parents to abuse their children or repress their sexual urges.
“Nine times out of 10, look to the dad and you’re gonna find he did something; beat them… I would blame the fathers, absolutely,” she said.
Khan also interviewed a former member of the Islamist, Alyas Karmani, who is now an imam at Bradford. Karmani believes that the growing gap between the Muslim parents and children creates a vacuum for the radical views to flourish.
The imam says that sex is also a factor to be considered, explaining that Muslim youngsters are usually told by their parents that sex before marriage is forbidden.
“There’s a real sense of hate that you have, that I can’t do that,” Karmani says. “And that’s why I find a greater sense of sexual dysfunction sometimes in Muslim communities.”
