Eagle Force established in Quetta to capture terrorism, street crime

QUETTA – Balochistan police have established a special force, adopting a new strategy to prevent terrorism and street crimes in Quetta.

The 400 personnel of the newly formed “Eagle Force” have started patrolling the sensitive areas on 200 bikes in the violence-hit city with an aim to restore peace. The troops have been trained by Pakistan Army.

The Provincial Government and Police Department launched the new forces following recent terror and sectarian attacks in the city.

“They have been trained to halt ambush, re-attack and other special training during two months course under Pakistan Army, they have 4 to 5 area based formation which they will pursue following the sensitivity of the streets.” a local media quoted DIG Quetta Abdul Razzaq Cheema as saying.

A party of Eagle force consists of 8 personnel, who will patrol the given areas on four bikes to prevent any ambush.

“They have been fully trained physically while riding motor bikes they will be fully equipped to counter target killing and street crimes in Quetta city.” Abdul Razaaq Cheema added.

The DIG further said that foundation stone of the Quetta Safe City Project will be laid down this week. CCTV cameras will be installed around the city to help identify the suspects.
