Pakistan beat New Zealand XI by 120 runs in warm-up match

LAHORE – Pakistan on Wednesday won a fifty-over warm-up match against New Zealand XI by 120 runs at Saxton Oval in Nelson.

Pakistan set 342 runs target for NZ XI after host country won the toss and elected to field first. The match held three days before formal start of a series between both countries.

Sent into bat by the NZ XI, Pakistani openers Fakhar Zaman and Azhar provided a solid start by making 106 and 104 runs respectively. Both openers retired out – an occasional practice in warm-up game.

Skipper Sarfraz Ahmad, Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan scored 21, 36 and 24 respectively in the warm-up match.

Chasing the target, New Zealand managed to score 221 runs off 47.1 overs. Pakistani bowler Shadab Khan bagged four wickets, while Faheem Ashraf got two wickets.

Pakistan cricket team players have landed in New Zealand to play five One-day Internationals and three T20Is against the hosts with the first match to be played at the Basin Reserve on January 6.

The match started at 3:00am Pakistan Time and it will be live-scored at nzc.nz
