TEHRAN – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in separate decrees issued on Sunday, appointed three new army commanders.
The report by the state-run IRNA said that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei appointed Admiral General Hossein Khanzadi as Iran’s new navy commander. His predecessor, Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, served in the post for 10 years.
Brigadier Khanzadi was a deputy commander in the Iranian Navy Forces before the appointment.
Brigadier General Mohammad Hossein Dadras was appointed as caretaker of the Iranian army, and Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, 62, was appointed as deputy chief army commander in charge of coordination.
In his message, the Supreme Leader also thanked the sincere efforts of former army commander Brigadier General Reza Pourdastan and Brigadier General Mohammad Hossein Dadras in their remarkable services in their previous positions.
