2017 Miss America contest to begin on Tuesday

ATLANTIC CITY – The competition to select the new Miss America is set to start in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Tuesday night.

According to the official announcement, the pageant will last for as many three nights lasting through Thursday. The 2017 Miss America will be crowned on Sunday night during a live TV broadcast.

The competition includes contestants from all 50 American states, District Colombia (DC) and Puerto Rico.

The first night of the initial selection will take place at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City – the city where the Miss America competition was held for the first time in 1921.

It is may also be noted here that 2015 Miss Georgia Betty Cantrell is the 2016 Miss America titleholder. She was crowned by the 2015 Miss America Kira Kazantesy on September 13, 2015.
