KARACHI – Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Thursday threatening the federal government said that they will take control of Sui Southern office if the province was not provided gas according to its legitimate right.
The chief minister issued the warning to the centre and Sui Southern gas Company Limited while speaking at the Sindh Assembly, adding that supply to all provinces will be cut if the situation was not improved in Sindh.
According to the Constitution of Pakistan, province which produce gas has first right over it. Sindh produce 70 percent of the total gas, but everyone knows about plight of Karachi, he added.
Murad Ali Shah added that the gas company has not been providing gas to the province for four months.
The Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), a rival of PPP in Karachi, also supported the views of the chief minister regarding the gas issue.
On March 27, The Sindh chief minister had announced that he was sending a requisition to the federal government for convening the next session of the Council of Common Interests to discuss the province’s pressing water and gas issues.
