Hockey Asia Cup 2017: India beat Pakistan 0-4 to enter Final

DHAKA – Pakistan lost to India another chance to stay in big clash – the Final – of the 10th men’s Asia Cup 2017 hockey tournament in Dhaka on Saturday.

Indian secured big win against Pakistan as they entered the final.

Earlier, the match had been delayed due to inclement weather until 6:00 PM PST.

The Indian side managed three goals in the last quarter to take the scoreline 4-0 in their favour after Satbir Singh has put them ahead in the 39th minute. Harmanpreet Singh, Lalit Upadhyay and Gurjant Singh also scored for India.

India also maintained their unbeaten run in the tournament with this win. India, the top-ranked side in the tournament, started the match as overwhelming favourites against the world ranked 13 Pakistan.

India finished on top of the table in Super 4 stage with seven points from two wins and a draw. A draw would have been enough for India to seal their place in the Sunday’s summit clash.

The victory is India’s 6th straight one against their arch neighbours, longest by any Indian team before and is better than the later ones as it gifted them a place in the final which will be played in Dhaka tomorrow.

India will face the winner of the other Super 4 game of the day between Korea and Malaysia in the final.

Pakistan will play a match tomorrow for third position.
