Oltmans reviewing resignation as hockey coach: PHF

LAHORE – Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has said that coach Roelant Oltmans has sought two days’ time to decide whether he wants to continue with the job or not.

In a statement issued here, PHF denied the reports of sacking Oltmans from the role of coach saying he is going through some family issues and is currently in Holland.

“Oltmans is in contact with the Federation and he has asked for two days time to decide on the matter,” PHF said.

PHF said the matter will be made public once Oltmans decides on the matter.

Pakistan team’s disastrous performance in the recently concluded Asian Games at Jakarta has sparked criticism all over, with the hockey fraternity demanding an operation clean up in the Federation and team management.

Oltmans, 63, first joined Pakistan team in 2004 and then on March 7 for his second term. His first assignment was the Champions Trophy which in London, in which Pakistan finished at the bottom, followed by another dismal show in the Commonwealth Games in Australia ending up seventh.
