Facebook modifies Like with ‘Reaction Buttons’

MENLO PARK, California (Web Desk) – It seems like 2016 is the year of changes for Facebook, as the company announced many major changes this year like adding support for live video service, and removing the sound from video ads.

Now it has introduced “Reaction buttons” on the social networking website used by billions daily.

The new buttons let you express your emotions in a cute smiley-like style. The new buttons are very similar to Emojis.

There are five total buttons introduced. To use the new reaction buttons, hover your mouse over the “Like” button, a menu will appear with a collection of five emoticons.

You’ll see “love,” “haha,” “wow,” “sad,” and “angry”.

Facebook said it researched for more than a year before launching these new “Reaction buttons”.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg once told members of the News Feed team that the time had come to move forward the simple “Like”.

When someone posts that his loved one has died, or any other thing like that, it might seem insulting to click on Like button. Users were requesting a dislike button, but it was also not the solution to the problem because you can’t just dislike the death of someone.

Keeping in view of all such issues, the company has introduced unique “Reaction buttons”, so users can react according to the post.

You can choose “Sad” if a post makes you unhappy. Or “haha”, if a post is quite funny. Facebook did not add a lot of reaction buttons so that users can quickly choose suitable one without navigating the list.

Reaction buttons are available on Facebook’s web version, iOS app, and Android app.
