LAHORE – Riffat Khan of Wapda on Monday won 1st Chief Minister Punjab National Women Squash Championship-2018 after beating Zoya Khalid of Army by 11/5, 11/8, 11/5.
In Under 19 category, Amna Fayyaz of PIA beat Noor Ul Huda of SNGPL by 11/5, 11/8, 11/5 and won the title.
Imran Muktar, Vice President Punjab Squash, was the chief guest of the final match. Secretory Punjab Squash Association Sheraz Saleem, VP Admin Tariq Farooq Rana, Khurram Manager IT FMC, coaches M. Asim, Arshad, Zulfiqar, Shoaib Masood, M. Imran, Shahid Iqbal, players and officials were also present on this occasion.
In women seniors final Riffat Khan who is 3rd seeded player in this tournament beat top seeded player Zoya Khalid in three sets. Both players start their match in good manner Riffat won first set easily.
In 2nd set Zoya played well and up by 7-5 but Riffat came behind and won the 2nd set with 11/9, In third and final set again Zoya leading with 6-5 but lost the set by 11/9 to Riffat Khan who won the final with final scores 11/5,11/9,11/9 (23 minutes).
In under 19 Amna Fayyaz (PIA) beat Noor Ul Huda (SNGPL) score 11/5,11/8,11/5 (24 minutes). Amna Fayyaz won first set by 11/5 in 2nd set Noor ul Huda who came from Karachi came back but again lost the set by 11/8. In third and final set Amna won by 11/5 and won the set and match.
Riffat Khan told to media that she is work hard to won the final. Zoya Obviously top seeded player who played good but in my mind that play straight and well and I am stick to my plan and thanks to almighty that I won the championship. I really work hard for future tournaments now.
In concluding ceremony Imran Muktar along with Sheraz Saleem and Tariq Farooq Rana distributed trophies and shields to winners and runners-up.
