Jayawardene ton takes Sri Lanka to 4-wicket win over Afghanistan

DUNEDIN (Web Desk) – Sri Lanka survived a scare to beat Afghanistan by four wickets in their World Cup Pool A match at Dunedin’s University Oval on Sunday.

Chasing 233 to win, the 1996 champions were 51 for four at one stage before Mahela Jayawardene, who hit exactly 100, and skipper Angelo Mathews (44) put on 126 for the fifth wicket.

Asghar Stanikzai top scored for Afghanistan with 54 and Samiullah Shenwari made 38.
