BIRMINGHAM (Web Desk) – A violent armed robber has been jailed for 17 years for robbery, attempted robbery and possession of a firearm and a knife, after one of his victims was able to identify him on Facebook.
Omar Famuyide, 21, was identified after his profile appeared in ‘People You May Know’ feed on one of his victims’ social media pages.
Police sources said Famuyide was involved in multiple crimes including assault on women and stealing BMW car of a victim.
Famuyide got into trouble when he grabbed keys to a Seat Leon at knife point.
The victim in that robbery contacted officers in August to say he identified Famuyide from his feed on Facebook.
Police had been hunting at Famuyide for a long time but he was eventually caught and a search of his home eased the authorities who finally connected the missing dots regarding his criminal activities
‘It was a crucial part of the investigation when one of the victims got in touch after recognising Famuyide on Facebook and was the final piece of the jigsaw that we were looking for,” Detective Constable Rhiannon said
Famuyide was jailed at Birmingham Crown Court.
