Waiting for Imran Khan to file disqualification reference against me, vows Shehbaz Sharif

LAHORE –  Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif vowed on Wednesday that he was waiting for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan to file a reference against him.

A statement released by the CM house alleged that all expectations of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief were interlinked with the report of the Joint Investigation Team which is surrounded by conflicts and controversy.

The chief minister continued that, despite all efforts, Imran Khan won’t succeed in assuming power through the backdoor.

“Ever since Musharaf’s rule, Imran Khan has tried to find artificial braces in politics,” Sharif said and added: “I wish he could have trusted the democratic process instead.”

He continued to state that Imran Khan got an opportunity to serve people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but “this is not what they [PTI] do.”

The legislator alleged that there was nothing to Khan’s politics if “lies and abuses” are removed from it.

Reportedly, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is gearing up to file a reference against Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif for which renowned lawyer Babar Awan has intensified efforts.

Responding to a query regarding disqualification of the younger brother of embattled prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Awan said the people of Punjab will soon get rid of ‘Panama hat’—a reference to western hat Shehbaz Sharif wears in public places.
