Waqar Younis appointed head coach of Bengal Tigers

SHARJAH – Bengal Tigers have appointed Pakistan’s legendary fast bowler Waqar Younis as their head coach for the T10 tournament scheduled to be played in December at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Anis Sajan, one of the co-owners of Bengal Tigers said: “We are pleased announce the appointment of Waqar Younis as the head coach of our team. Waqar has been also the head coach of the national team for two terms and his experience will add great value to the team.”

Sarfaraz Ahmed, who has been made as the captain of Bengal Tigers was equally thrilled with the appointment of Waqar as coach.

In a video, Sarfraz said: “I have worked with Waqar in the past for the Pakistan team and we both have a strong bonding which will help as he is an experienced coach and our local bonding will help our team.”

Bengal Tigers are the only team to have announced their captain and coach so far in the tournament which is going to start on Dec 14.

Anis Sajan, who is fondly known as ‘Mr. Cricket of UAE’ added: “It’s very important to start moving as the tournament is just one and half months away and it’s important to identify and appoint the captain and the coach as they are the two key people who will be running the show of the team.

“We have also appointed Australian John Gloster as the physio of the team and Girish Dongre as the team manager and Maroof Majumdaar as the media manager of the team,” Sajan added.
