Punjab Golf Association elects Lahore Corps Commander Aamer Riaz as president

LAHORE – Lahore Corps Commander Lt Gen Aamer Riaz has been unanimously elected as the president of Punjab Golf Association (PGA) at the general council meeting of the body.

The elections were held Friday for a fresh term of four years, said a PGA spokesman.

Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen Amir Riaz said that he was a firm believer in teamwork and collective wisdom, and considered his new designation as a very challenging job. He expressed hopes that the new team will take golf to new heights and also take care of the allied staff like caddies and others.

Other elected office bearers include Brig (r) Tahir Saleem of Garrison Golf Club, vice president; Brig (r) Sikandar Hayat of Defence Raya, vice president; Shahid Wahab Rao of Defence Raya Golf Club, secretary; and Col Farhat Kiani of Garrison Golf Club, treasurer.

The members elected on ladies’ seats are Dr Asma Afzal Shami and Mrs Maimoona Azam.

The elected members of the executive committee include Maqbool Max Babri (Royal Palm Lahore), Dr Nadeem John (Sialkot), Lt Col Qasim (Gujranwala), Maj Akhter Abbas (Multan), Col Masud ul Hassan Malik (Rawalpindi), and Khawaja Pervaiz Saeed (Gymkhana Lahore).

Zahid Sultan has been picked to represent the professional golfers on the executive committee.–APP
