No decision on cricket series with Pakistan so far: Indian foreign office

NEW DELHI (Web Desk) - The spokesman of Indian foreign office on Friday said that there has been no final decision on cricket series with Pakistan.

Addressing a press briefing, the spokesman said that Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has to get a prior permission from the foreign ministry to play cricket series in any third country.

The ministry has received a request from Indian cricket board about the proposed cricket series with Pakistan in Sri Lnaka however no decision has been made at this so far, he added.

Earlier the Indian media reports claimed on Thursday that BCCI has announced a cricket series with Pakistan in Sri Lanka, after clearance from the Indian government.

The two sides will play nearly 5 matches including three ODIs and two T20 games, the reports quoted IPL Chairman Rajiv Shukla saying as.

Meanwhile Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif allowed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to play the cricket series, in response to an official request of PCB chief Sheharyar Khan.

The permission has been granted after security clearance from federal interior ministry and foreign office.

However the premier has instructed the cricket board to shorten the tour to T20 and ODI games only.
