ISLAMABAD – Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif questioned whether any court in the country would punish military dictators for their wrongdoings.
Talking informally to his party members, representatives of CPNE and television anchors at Punjab House Islamabad, Nawaz Sharif slammed former president Pervez Musharraf for his statement that dictatorship was better than the civilian rule.
“He is not daring enough to visit Pakistan and express such views in public,” Nawaz Sharif said referring to the former military head.
He also claimed that Musharraf wanted to meet him upon his arrival in Pakistan, but he refused.
“I have become an ideological man and my ideology has strengthened,” claimed Nawaz Sharif.
The politician lamented the fact that Baloch leader Akbar Bugti was violently killed but no accountability was conducted in this regard, adding that the PML-N government eradicated terrorism.
Sharif who was disqualified by a five-member bench of the top court last Friday said that he was not alone.
“What’s happening in the country is unfortunate,” observed Nawaz Sharif and added that the stock market nosedived after his ouster from PM House.
Talking about the probe into his offshore assets, he said that he and his family was being grilled for the source of income reiterating that there was not a single allegation of corruption against him.
The politician, who served thrice as the prime minister of the country went on and expressed his reservations about the Panama case verdict and inquired that when he did not receive any salary from Capital FZE, how could he mention it in his nomination papers.
He expressed that the NAB case being filed in the purview of Panama case verdict was conducting a probe into companies set up by his father stressing that the cases filed by graft buster relate to corruption.
“I should be told about the allegation against me,” Nawaz said and added: “What could be a bigger joke than this?”
The former chief executive observed that he was not ashamed of the treatment he meted out to his homeland adding that he always worked for the betterment of the country.
“I believe in rule of law and strengthening of the democracy,” noted PML-N’s leader.
The former premier maintained that he was realising what was going around and wanted to express his feelings but would keep mum for some time.
Referring to the development during his tenure, Nawaz Sharif recounted that the international media was discussing Pakistan’s economic boom and energy situation in the country improved, which was a challenge.

Regarding his plan to travel to Punjab’s provincial capital in the form of a convoy, Sharif replied that he was eager to travel via road, however, the security officials asked him to skip the plan.
‘I would go to Lahore via G.T road in coming days if I don’t make it today or tomorrow’ he assured.
Nawaz Sharif, who basked in the warmth of the reception extended by his supporters as he arrived in the capital from his Shangla Gali residence headed to Punjab House where he would stay for a day.
On Sunday, the former premier is expected to proceed towards Lahore via road and the ruling party is eyeing transformation of the journey to a political power show in a bid to show muscle to the rivals.
