Eid-ul-Fitr in India, Bangladesh on Thursday

NEW DELHI – The crescent of new Islamic month Shawwal-ul-Mukarram has not been sighted in India and Bangladesh, where Eid-ul-Fitr will be marked on Thursday (July 7), media reports said on Tuesday.

The Imam of Delhi’s Shahi mosque said that no evidence for the new moon sighting was received from any where in the country, hence all the Muslims in India will complete 30 days of Ramazan. Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in India on Thursday, he added.

Meanwhile, reports from Bangladesh also said that the moon of Shawwal has not been sighted in the country.

The Gulf states and Muslims in the United States and European countries will observe Eid-ul-Fitr on Wednesday, after completion of 30 days of Ramazan.
