Imad Wasim new Karachi Kings captain for PSL-III

KARACHI – Star all-rounder Imad Wasim has been appointed captain of Karachi Kings for the third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the franchise announced on Tuesday.

Karachi Kings President Shahid Afridi made the announcement during a press conference at Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi.

Afridi also announced that he’ll play as a normal player under Imad’s captaincy.

“I didn’t want to take the role of the captain because it adds undue pressure. Imad has matured enough to lead the side and all my support is with him,” Afridi said.

Speaking to media alongside Karachi Kings owner Salman Iqbal, team director Rashid Latif, Afridi, who recently joined the team, maintained that he wants to enjoy his game so he thinks Imad should lead the team.

Visibly happy with the decision, Imad maintained that as a senior player, Shahid Afridi supported him a lot in his international career.

“Afridi’s presence is enough for us, both on field and in the dressing room, his experience as a captain will be there to guide us,” Imad added.

The left-arm spinner said it is an honour to become captain of a franchise team.

The preparation for the third edition of the Pakistan Super League has begun according to PCB chief Najam Sethi, who also lauded the successful hosting of the second edition of the PSL.

The HBL Pakistan Super League player draft is set to take place on November 12.
