Family Hub: Samsung latest s voice-controlled takes smartness to a next level

LAS VEGAS – South-Korean tech giant Samsung will be showcasing the next generation of its Family Hub refrigerators today at the CES 2018.

The new refrigerators include Bixby voice control and integration with Samsung’s Smart Things Cloud for IOT devices.

The new technology will allow users to manage their fridge through simple voice commands using Bixby personal voice assistance.

Integration with Smart Things means users can control a wide range of devices at home from the touchscreen on the fridge. Users can adjust the thermostat, switch off smart bulbs and even leave a note for family members from the screen on the fridge.

Similarly, users can see what is inside the fridge from anywhere on the View Inside app for smartphones.

The new app called Meal Planner will show recipes based on users food preferences and restrictions on diet and will provide details on new shopping deals on grocery and food items on online stores.

Users can also mirror their Samsung Smart TV and smartphone on the Family Hub screen and watch TV, play music or play games from the confines of the kitchen while cooking. For richer audio experience, Samsung has used speakers by AKG Acoustics this time.

The new line-up of Family Hub refrigerators is expected in the US by May 2018 and there is no update on the price yet.
