LAHORE – Pakistan opener Ahmed Shehzad has been found guilty in a dope test and will face months-long suspension from the game, confirmed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday.
In a tweet, the PCB said that it received a report from the Independent Review Board today, adding, “Cricketer Ahmad Shahzad has tested positive for a banned substance. PCB will issue charge sheet today”.

According to a report on cricbuzz, the 26-year-old batsman, who recently played for Pakistan in the Twenty20 series against Scotland, was tested during the Pakistan Cup where he played for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Last month, the Pakistan cricket confirmed that a player has found guilty in the dope test conducted during the domestic series but it did not release the name of the cricketer.
The report of the cricketer was later sent to India for a re-check due to the sensitivity of the issue. The results of the test were expected to come this week.
Shehzad has been in and out of the Pakistan national team since the end of the World Twenty20 in 2016 in India where the team was eliminated in the league stages. Following the end of the tournament, the then head coach Waqar Younis had recommended dropping him and Umar Akmal from the team.
The right-hander last played a Test in 2017 where he was part of Pakistan’s squad which finally won a series in the West Indies for the first time. Shehzad was included in the series against Scotland only because Babar Azam suffered a wrist injury in the Lord’s Test against England.
