ISLAMABAD (APP) – Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in pursuance of its commitment to promote innovation and accessibility in technology, has launched the Mobile App Awards 2016.
The theme for this year competition is “Embracing Mobile Accessibility” which aims to focus on the development of mobile applications for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Pakistan.
The Award has been launched in collaboration with Ministry of Information Technology, Telenor, the Special Talent Exchange Programme (STEP) and the Internet Society’s (ISOC’s) Asia-Pacific Bureau.
The competition will begin with sensitization/awareness rising sessions which will be conducted for students and professional mobile application developers in major cities of the country. The workshops have been planned for Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta.
These sessions will also allow interested individuals to sign up to develop a mobile application and compete in the awards.
In next phase, the awards will run a mentorship program in which interested developers will have a chance to take advantage of guidance and supervision offered by panel of experts.
The profiles of the panel of mentors and trainers are available on the website for reference. Interested candidates can also submit their proposals through the website. The competition will accept proposals and ideas till June 30.
A panel of judges will evaluate the proposals and decide on the top five mobile apps based on a pre-defined judging criteria.
