LAHORE – The Independence Cup featuring Pakistan cricket team and World XI seems to have paved the way for full-scale revival of cricket in the country as West Indies cricket team is next to visit Pakistan.
Addressing a press conference along with PCB head Najam Sethi, President of the West Indies Cricket Board(WICB), Dave Cameron confirmed that the Carribean side would play three T20s in November.
PCB chairman Najam Sethi said that the agreement with the West Indies Cricket Board has been finalised and they have confirmed that they will come to Lahore in November to play three T20 Internationals. adding that the itinerary for the matches against West Indies would soon be announced.
Welcoming the West Indies tour Sethi said both the countries had been friends for last four years, he maintained that the tour has been finalised by West Indies Board after being satisfied with security arrangements made for World XI team.

The PCB chairman said the tour by the West Indies is an important milestone as it would be a proper bilateral series in Pakistan and it would open the doors for the PCB to negotiate with other cricket playing nations.
Overjoyed at the upcoming tours, Sethi informed that Sri Lanka has also green-lighted playing single T20 international on October 29 in Lahore.
“I am still trying to convince Sri Lanka to play at least two matches in the coming series in Lahore,” Sethi added.
Pakistan, a cricket loving nation has not seen international team showcasing their skills in its grounds ever since a bus carrying the same Sri Lankan team came under drive-by ambush near Lahore’s Liberty Square in 2009, injuring seven players.
Since then, the only international team to visit Pakistan was Zimbabwe, which played five limited-overs games in Lahore in 2015. Pakistan plays their “home” internationals in the United Arab Emirates.
Recently, the World XI also played three T20s in Lahore with the host side clinching the series by 2-1.
Though the demands rose to a crescendo regarding the revival of cricket in the country in few years but the successful Pakistan Super League final in Lahore gave a major boost to the perception of normalisation of law and order situation in the country in March.
