KIA’s economically viable RIO with high end features spotted in Pakistan

LAHORE – KIA motors is making its comeback in Pakistan nearly after nine years, by partnering with Lucky Cement group.

The South Korean automaker, which was earlier manufacturing cars in collaboration with Deewan Farooque, had stopped its production in 2009.

Recently, Kia Lucky Motors signed an agreement with Ministry of Industries and Production to start the production of light commercial and passenger vehicles in the South Asian country. The agreement took place under Automotive Development Policy 2016-2021.

The official website of KIA Motors Pakistan is already live showcasing different products of the company.

Previously, KIA Sportage was spotted in Pakistan during its tests but this time all-new KIA Rio was caught roaming around the streets of the country. Last year KIA Rio was spotted near Hyderabad city of Sindh.

KIA Rio test mule’s images are going viral on social media with automotive lovers craving to get a hands-on experience of the vehicle.

KIA Rio is a subcompact hatchback, popular in the European market and in Pakistan and apparently, the car will be a direct competitor of Suzuki Swift and FAW V2 in this league.

If the KIA RIO is launched, it will be a very strong contender and it is likely that KIA would roll out two variants to cater the price range of low-end users and high-end users, who would be enjoying latest goodies like smart entry with push-start, climate control, cruise control and many other features.

Internationally, the car comes with two engine options at 1.4-liter and a 1.2-liter petrol engine mated to either a 4-speed automatic, a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed manual transmission.

KIA RIO features offered in the international market:

  • Bi-Projection Headlamp
  • Electric Folding Mirrors
  • 5-inch Multi-Information Display
  • Steering mounted audio controls
  • Cruise Control
  • Climate Control
  • 60:40 Rear Split Seats
