Tahirul Qadri departs for London again

LAHORE – Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri departed for London late Sunday night for a brief tour.

A spokesperson for the PAT supremo confirmed that Tahirul Qadri will be returning to Pakistan on August 31.

Before boarding his flight, Qadri himself clarified that he was not fleeing the country and so would be back soon.

“I’m not fleeing; I’ll be coming back very soon. The Model Town tragedy still needs to be accounted for,” he stated.

He took a swipe at former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family for shunning NAB summons.

“The Sharif family should appear before NAB [the National Accountability Bureau],” he said, adding that this was the third chance the Supreme Court had given them to prove their innocence.

Dr Qadri expressed that it was a chance for Sharif family to fend off allegations claiming that the apex court can issue an order for their arrests if they fail to appear before the NAB.

“Therefore, it should be wise for them to do it,” he advised.

The PAT chief maintained that this was an opportunity for the national graft-buster to improve its image and reputation in the country.

‘Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will not be able to amend the Constitution of Pakistan,’ the PAT chief noted.
