ISLAMABAD – The government of Pakistan is mulling over furnishing a detailed response to the tirade of allegations hurled by US President Donald Trump regarding its role in fight against terrorism.
Sources privy to Foreign Office revealed on Tuesday that all the stakeholders were being consulted to advocate Pakistan’s cause in the wake of allegations that apparently dented the credibility of Pakistan, despite its long-standing efforts to smash out terrorism.
A senior government official on condition of anonymity told that there was nothing new in President Trump’s speech.
“Pakistan has destroyed and eliminated the terror infrastructure from its soil, therefore, repeating the demand of ‘do more’ is not going to work.” he told Express Tribune.
Regarding Trump’s support to India in a bid to re-establish Afghanistan economically, the official questioned that how could a nation fighting poverty itself, provide support to the war-torn country.
‘It does not make any sense’ he said.

It bears mentioning that in his first speech to the nation as commander-in-chief, Donald Trump took a harsh stance against Pakistan alleging it of a softer stance against militants.
‘Our commitment is not limited [and] our support is not a blank cheque,’ he said.
Trump also cleared the way for the deployment of thousands more US troops to Afghanistan, backtracking from his promise to evacuate the war-torn region.
Afghan president Ashraf Ghani threw weight behind Trump’s strategy and welcomed it for the achievement of self-reliance.
Pakistan’s closest aide China stood in support of Pakistan saying the country was fighting against terrorism from the front line.
‘We are happy to see Pakistan and the United States carry out anti-terror cooperation on the basis of mutual respect, and work together for security and stability in the region and world.’ Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said in a statement.
