Shahid Afridi blames batsmen for New Zealand defeat

WELLINGTON (Staff Report) – Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi Friday blamed top order batsmen for humiliating defeat in third T20 game against New Zealand.

Black Caps defeated Pakistan by 95 runs, which is biggest ever T20 defeat for Green Shirts in T20 format, and sealed the three match series with 2-1.

Speaking at presentation after the match, Shahid Afridi said that “when first five batsmen return to pavilion in first six over, what can you expect in the end?”

When asked about his own performance in the match, the skipper responded that his performance has always been key for Pakistan team but unfortunately he couldn’t perform well in the match.

To another question, Afridi said that Pakistan has enough time to prepare for Asia Cup and ICC T20 World Cup and the team can do well in the forthcoming mega events.

It is also pertinent to be mentioned here that Shahid Afridi himself scored eight runs only for eight balls while he picked only one wicket against 27 runs.
