NEW DELHI (Staff Report) – While Pakistan men team turned out to be a disappointed for fans back home during World T20 2016, the women team has emerged as one of strongest contenders at the mega event beating arch rival India and Bangladesh, and skipper Sana Mir is still optimistic that good luck will smile on country’s men team as well.
In post-match press conference on Thursday night after 9 wicket win over Bangladesh, Mir went on to say that we are getting such a positive feedback back home after these remarkable performances and in the meanwhile our prayers are with the men’s team as well.
“I hope they [men team] also give the fans reasons to smile,” she said while adding that women cricket team has never received this kind of support in Pakistan and girls are enjoying this to the best.
Responding a query about upcoming match against favourite England Women, the Pakistani skipper said that we are not afraid of any team here as cricket is played in the ground not on paper.
She explained Pakistan’s equal chance to win World T20 saying that many experts and observers would have written us off paper but our performance at the mega event has been outstanding. We restricted India and West Indies below hundred to show that how much we have improved in this format of cricket, Mir maintained.
On the occasion, she also thanked the charged Indian crowd which chanted “Pakistan Jeetayga [Pakistan will win]” slogans during the match against Bangladesh. It is highly welcoming to play in a country where people come to watch you play and extend their support, she said.
Earlier, after win against India Sana Mir and Pakistan Women team dedicated the victory to the parent who let their girls play cricket in Pakistan -in a short video message to fans.
Mubarak Pakistan ??❤️ . This win is dedicated to parents of all Pak female cricketers for believing in us and supporting us to follow our dreams❤️??❤️

Pakistan Women have so far played three games at World T20 2016, winning two matches against Bangladesh and India. They had a close contest against favourite West Indies as well. The team will face off England in the last Super 10 round match on March 27, which will decide about their future in the mega event.
On the other hand Pakistan Men team has managed to win only game against Bangladesh, losing two matches against India and New Zealand. There’s very little chance of team’s advance to semifinals.
