West Indies Batsman Nicholas Pooran Sets New World Record In T20 Cricket

West Indies’ explosive batsman Nicholas Pooran has set a new world record in T20 cricket.

Nicholas Pooran has become the first cricketer in the world to hit the most sixes in T20 format within a calendar year. He achieved this feat on Tuesday during a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) match.

Previously, the record for most sixes in a year was held by his compatriot Chris Gayle, who hit 135 sixes in 36 T20 innings in 2015. However, Pooran surpassed him in the ongoing CPL.

In 2024, Nicholas Pooran has hit 151 sixes in 63 T20 matches, the most by any batter in this format within a single year.

In the ongoing Caribbean Premier League 2024, Pooran is the third-highest run-scorer, with 275 runs in just seven matches. He has hit 21 sixes for his team in this tournament so far.
