RAWALPINDI (APP) – A civilian, Muhammad Waseem, who was severely injured due to unprovoked firing by Indians on Line of Control (LoC) in Chirikot sector yesterday, has embraced martyrdom this morning (Sunday).
According to an ISPR statement, Muhammad Waseem was evacuated to CMH Rawalpindi for treatment but he succumbed to bullet injury in his neck on Sunday morning.
Indian border forces on Saturday resorted to unprovoked firing in Charikot Sector along the Line of Control in Rawalakot.

Earlier in December last year, Pakistan and India had pledged to uphold the 2003 LoC ceasefire accord which had been left in tatters by repeated violations that year.

The directors general of military operations (DGMOs) of the two countries had agreed to a number of steps to keep the ceasefire accord intact. The meeting had taken place on the initiative of the political leadership of the two countries for ending tensions along the LoC.
The nuclear-armed rivals have fought three wars since 1947, two of them over Kashmir. Both control a part of the Muslim-majority region but claim it in full.
