NZ Cricket Chief David White apologises over Amir taunts
WELLINGTON (Web Desk/Agencies) - New Zealand Cricket chief executive David White apologised to Pakistan following revelations of taunting Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir during the third T20 on Friday.

According to media report, prominent announcer Mark McLeod had played a cash register sound effect during one of Amir's spells during the match between the Black Caps and Pakistan at Wellington’s Westpac Stadium.

White said he has publicly reprimanded McLeod, according to espncricinfo report.

"I think playing the sound effect was inappropriate and disrespectful, and has the effect of trivialising one of the biggest issues facing cricket at the moment," White told Fairfax New Zealand.

"I have contacted the Pakistan team management for sorry, and to assure them there will be no repeat."

Amir has made a comeback after a five-year ban and a short jail sentence for his role in a spot-fixing scandal.

There were also reports of Kiwi fans waving cash at Amir while he was near the boundary rope during Monday’s ODI at the Basin Reserve — also in Wellington — and yelling, “I have got a dollar for you”.
