LAHORE (Staff Report) – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday served a show-cause notice to Muhammad Hafeez for issuing statement against fast bowler Muhammad Amir, who was convicted for involvement in match fixing and starting playing cricket of ban term recently.
According to a statement Hafeez has been asked to explain his statement in which he said that he declined a contract from Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) because Muhammad Amir was also playing in the same team.
PCB notice says that Hafeez’s statement is apparently a violation of his central contract with the board which bars him from issuing statement without prior permission.
Eaelier Hafeez was quoted in media reports saying as “I have no personal issues with Amir or Chittagong, it’s my personal opinion that I can’t share the dressing room with someone who hurt my country’s integrity.”
On the other hand, the BPL has dismissed Hafeez’s statement that he declined offer due to presence of Muhammad Amir, without clearly stating the reason behind failure on reaching a contract with the cricketer.
