ISLAMABAD: After a series of disappointing losses, Pakistan has been ranked 10th in the latest International Hockey Federation (FIH) Hero World Rankings with an overall score of 1073 points.
According to the latest rankings, Australia managed to remain on top followed by the Netherlands and Germany. England is at 4th slot while Pakistan’s neighbor, India managed to climb to 5th position from its previous position of 7th with 1543 points.
Pakistan’s women hockey team fares even worse in the rankings. In the women’s rankings, Pakistan are not even in top 35. Netherlands women team are on top followed by Argentina. Australia and New Zealand remain in third and fourth place respectively, but fifth place is now held by USA, who have moved up from seventh due to their stunning performance in the Champions Trophy.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation has yet to comment on the declining standard of the national sport.
