LAHORE (Staff Report) – While the long-shadowed cricket series with India is on the verge of cancellation once again, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has planned a domestic T20 tournament as an alternative just to keep players busy.
According to a PCB official, the board is planning to hold a event on the format of proposed Pakistan Super League (PSL) in which five teams representing Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and Islamabad will participate.
The event will take place in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and all star cricketers will be available for five teams.
However the event’s proposal is in very initial form and can only be implemented in case of cancellation of series with India, the officials who did not wanted to be named added.
Meanwhile reports of Indian media suggest that there are no chances of any cricket series with Pakistan in near future, even if the Indian government wants to play with Pakistan.
On Saturday the Hindu extremist party Shiv Sena had once again launched a full-fledged attack on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for going ahead with the India-Pakistan bilateral series.
Sena workers showed fury over holding series and threatened the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) authorities of severe consequences if they don’t mull their decision.
The workers of Shiv Sena previously disrupted the planned meeting of BCCI and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chiefs by storming the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai to protest against PCB chief Shahryar Khan’s visit. Khan returned Pakistan without any meeting with Indian counterparts as a result.
