Sheikh Sultan inaugurates 37th Sharjah International Book Fair

SHARJAH – The 37th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) has kicked-off today (Wednesday) with a message of peace for all humanity and a celebration of culture.

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the festival.

Moreover, Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, were present during the inauguration.

The literary festival is organised by the Sharjah Book Authority, under the theme ‘Tale of Letters’, the fair will run until November 10 at Expo Centre Sharjah.

The inauguration was also attended by a number of Sheikhs, ministers, dignitaries as well as a large number of publishers, intellectuals, and media representatives.

The 11-day cultural feast has promised to bring more than 20 million books featuring 1.6 million titles, including 80,000 new titles and 1,874 publishing houses from 77 countries around the world – all under its vibrant roof.
