LAHORE – A 30-year-old man who impersonated himself as playback singer Armaan Malik and cheated many women of several lakhs by blackmailing them with their photos has been arrested.
Upon a complaint by a victim woman, the District Crime Branch police set up a trap for Mahendra and caught him red-handed while talking with the woman.
As per police, Mahendra has made lakhs of rupees through such blackmailing, after he quit a job as a teacher trainee.
“I am really shocked to read all these news articles… urgent request to all my fans – please don’t believe anyone pretending to be me on social media, don’t fall prey to such dirty tricks!! ??”, wrote Armaan on Twitter.
