Afghanistan patronizing Mullah Fazlullah for terrorism in Pakistan: Defense Minister

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said the Afghan agencies are patronizing Tehreeke-e-Taliban Pakistan chief Mullah Fazlullah, who has been carrying out a number subversive activities from Afghanistan on Pakistani soil.

In an interview, he said terrorist incidents in Pakistan had connections inside Afghanistan. The militants hiding in Afghanistan cross the border along with Afghan refugees and execute acts of terrorism in Pakistan, he said.

The Minister said thousands of Afghan nationals traveled to Pakistan without having valid documents, but this practice will not be allowed in future.

“Pakistan has built border gates at Torkhum and Angoor adda, so that nobody could enter into Pakistan without formal travel documents,” he added.

To a question, he said that recent incidents of unprovoked firing by Afghan forces were not welcome and would be given a fitting reply.

The statement comes as a Pakistan Army Major, who was injured in a clash on Afghan border, succumbed to his wounds at hospital.

Taking serious notice of violations by Afghan forces, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that Afghanistan will have to decide whether it wants to support Pakistan’s efforts for peace in the region or be part of someone else’s game.

“Pakistan’s sincere efforts for border management are being sabotaged from across the border,” he said in a statement.
